Nagaland: Phek District Task Force on COVID-19 conducts emergency meeting

Phek, June 4 (MExN): Phek District Task Force held an emergency meeting on COVID-19 with various NGOs and Frontal Organization at DC Conference Hall on June 3.


Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Jaiswal IAS stated that NGOs and Frontal Organization are part of the team to fight the virus. “Rather than panicking, the frontal organizations should come forward and have joint efforts with the District Task Force to put an end to the present pandemic,” he said. 


The DC also apprised the attendees not to panic because the returnees will be sent to respective districts only after getting the test results. The positive tested patients with mild symptoms will only be sent to the district COVID-19 hospital. The citizens should abide by the SOP strictly promulgated by the government and restrain from adhering to the divergent joint resolutions and self-imposed SOPs by various organizations.


The Dc informed that liaison Officers will be sent to Dimapur to coordinate with District Administration for safe passage of the returnees to their respective districts. The Police personnel will escort the returnees till destination.


Chief Medical Officer Phek apprised that medical team is ready with preparedness to accommodate patients in the COVID-19 hospital in any emergency needs, patients coming with respiratory distress also can be treated as there are adequate oxygen cylinders. The only setback is that oxygen cylinder is refilled in Kohima. She also added that there are 26 Quarantine Centres with 770 beds at present under Phek District.


The Medical Superintendent, Phek informed that there is one ventilator and another one is under procurement.


The NGOs under Phek District requested the officials present to honestly specify the availabilities and non- availabilities of the equipment required to cater the needs of the present pandemic so as to work hand in hand and bring about solution in the event of non-availability.
