Consumers asked to update credentials their SDO offices or register online
Dimapur, July 15 (MExN): The Nagaland Department of Power has announced a transition to an electronic billing (E-Billing) system for electricity bills. This initiative is part of the department's efforts to promote energy conservation, support the Digital India initiative, and contribute to environmental sustainability.
From now on, electricity bills will no longer be issued in hard copy. Instead, consumers will receive their bills via SMS, email, and through the department’s web portal at www.dopn.gov.in. To facilitate this transition, the department is updating consumer credentials with valid mobile numbers and email addresses. A press release from the department urged consumers urged to visit their respective Sub-Divisional offices to submit their updated credentials or alternatively, register and update their profiles online at the department’s web portal.
The shift to e-billing is expected to yield several environmental benefits. By significantly reducing paper consumption, the Department of Power aims to conserve trees and decrease the environmental impact associated with paper production, including energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. The elimination of paper bills will also lower the carbon footprint related to printing, transporting, and delivering bills, thereby supporting energy conservation efforts, it added.
In addition to environmental benefits, the e-billing system will enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness within the Department of Power. The reduction in costs associated with paper, printing, and postage will allow the department to reinvest savings into improving infrastructure and customer service. E-billing will streamline the billing process by automating tasks such as bill generation, delivery, and payment tracking, thereby reducing the manual workload and minimizing errors.
