Nagaland: PTCSU submits memo to Empowered Group

Kohima, May 30 (MExN): The Phek Town Chakhesang Students’ Union (PTCSU) submitted a memorandum to ACS & Finance Commissioner & Convener, Empowered Group, Nagaland, Kohima on May 30.


In the midst of the sensitive COVID-19 pandemic situation, the PTCSU extended its acknowledgement to all the frontline workers, including the nodal Empowered Group for rendering maximum efforts and selfless dedication in order to the contain the spread of COVID-19 in the state.


“While, in appreciation and respect to the Principal Secretary, Home Department order NO. GAB-1/COM/GEN-1/2020, Dated Kohima, the 29th May 2020, which, as per interpretation, clearly nullify the previous order no. NSDMA-ER-COVID-19 301/2020, Dated Kohima, the 27th May 2020, which was contradictory and in contrast to the management,” the Union stated in a memo received here.


The PTCSU stated that Nagaland government should not bend to any self-vested CSOs, as such the Empowered Group must continue to uphold general justice for the welfare of the whole Naga societies.”


The PTCSU stated that after inspecting the COVID-19 facilities at Phek district hospital, “much to our dismay, come to a conclusion that our neglected HQ hospital is not in a position to tackle any COVID-19 positive case.”


PTCSU president Surhoveyi Khesoh and general secretary Nukhozo Chuzo stated that with only two  ventilators, one Cardiac Monitor, deficient protective equipment etc; “our healthcare workers are not given a fair chance in the fight against this dreaded pandemic, without putting themselves at unnecessary risk, which are otherwise with proper gear and equipment.”


The GoN Empowered Group, as per the earmark COVID-19 fund management, should procure and consign adequate and standard equipment to the district at the earliest, it prayed.


The Union also appealed Empowered Group convenor to remain steadfast to the standing order.


“Further retraction, which resulting any outbreak of COVID-19 positive cases at Phek HQ, the nodal Empowered Group will be held responsible for any action,” it stated.
