Nagaland: Public Hearing on MGNREGS audit for 32 villages held

 Kohima, August 20 (MExN): The 2nd Phase FY 2025-26 Social Audit District level Public Hearing under MGNREGS (implemented during FY 2023-24) was convened by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Kohima in collaboration with NSSAA, Social Audit Unit Nagaland at DPDB conference hall, Kohima on August 20. 

Altogether 32 villages were audited under Jakhama, Chiephobozou, Chunlikha, Botsa & Tseminyu Blocks Viz- Viphoma, Dihoma, Nerhe Model, Nerhe Phezha, Phekerkriema Bawe, Rusoma, Thizama, Kijumetouma Bawe, Tsiesema Basa, Meriema, Tsabazou, Nerhema, Nachama (Chiephobozou Block), Jakhama, Viswema, Phesama (Jakhama Block), Botsa, Tsiemekhuma Bawe (Botsa Block), Sendenyu New, Thongsunyu (Tseminyu Block), Ziphenyu, Sewanu, Tsonsa, Chunlikha, Ehunu, K. Station, Likhwenchu, Tesophenyu New, Yikhanu, Kandinu, Nsunyu, Sishunu (Chunlikha block).

The chairperson, PD, DRDA, Kohima, Kevilhoubei welcomed the officials and participants, stated a press release. 

The State Resource Person of NSSAA, Social Audit Unit, Nagaland, Sezolu Swuro on her introductory speech informed that schemes apart from MGNREGS, social audit of  PMAY-G under RD and other schemes such as PM Poshan & Samagra Shiksha under Education Department, NSAP under Social Welfare Department, schemes under Department of Social Justice & Empowerment was further audited during this financial year. 

She briefed on the review of social audit findings and implored the implementing agency and the programme functionaries to execute the scheme in consonance with the Ministry’s guideline. 

Social Audit Resource Person, Imsusenla Longchar, District Resource Person and Nungshilemla Jamir, Block Resource Person presented the findings of social audit and were reviewed during the hearing. Issues of maintenance of detailed Transparency Board/Citizen Information Board (CIB), conduct of Rozgar Diwas, maintenance of Job Card & related issues, were being reviewed. Accordingly rectifications were produced by the concerned Implementing functionaries, it stated. Resolutions were also passed to take corrective measures basing on the social audit findings.

Rorheu Peseyie, SDO (C) Kohima HQ represented District Administration as an observer for the meeting. He highlighted on the importance of social audit and urged the implementing agency and the programme functionaries to appraise the social audit finding take serious note on the social audit findings and take corrective measures for better performance in the implementing of the scheme. He highlighted on the importance and maintenance of Proper record keeping and conduct of Rozgar Diwas. 

Official from AG, Vizobeilie, Assistant Audit Officer, PAG (Audit) Kohima, BDOs and their Staff, Officials from the DRDA, beneficiaries and village functionaries participated in the meeting. The programme concluded with Public Hearing resolution by the Chairperson.
