DIMAPUR, AUGUST 2 (MExN): With the monsoon unleashing its fury over Nagaland, the State has registered an excess rainfall of 72.68 % during the period of January 1 to July 31, 2018.
According to the rainfall data recorded by the Department of Soil & Water Conservation, the State as a whole received an average rainfall of 1105.3 mm against the normal (long term average) of 640.1 mm.
Except for Dimapur and Meluri observatories, the rest 15 meteorological observatories of Nagaland recorded excess rainfall during this period, Viliehu Nguzhu, director of Soil and Water Conservation department informed in a press release.
Wokha district recorded the maximum excess rainfall (departure of + 347 per cent from normal) while Mokokchung received the highest amount of rainfall ie 1574.5 mm in Nagaland during this period.
State capital Kohima, one of the most severe hit districts this monsoon also recorded 1387.3 mm of rainfall from January till July 2018 while the average rainfall recorded during the last few years stood at 633.8 mm. This is a departure of + 118.9 per cent from normal.
