Kohima, May 7 (MExN): A State level two-day review cum workshop on Reproductive Maternal Neonate Child Adolescent Health and Nutrition (RMNCAH+N) commenced at the IDSP Hall, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland on May 7.

Welcoming the District RCH/Immunisation Officers and the District Program Managers (NHM), Dr Khelito Zhimomi, State Program Officer, RMNCAH+N, stressed that the review is all about bringing forward the District level problems and work on the best solution and take the program forward. She expressed hope that the District will learn from one another the best practices.

Dr Akuo Sorhie, Mission Director, National Health Mission (NHM) while addressing the district representatives present said that RMNCAH+N has been the back bone of the National Health Mission and of the Department since its inception and continue to be so till today. “This is because of the sincerity and the dedication of the District Program Officers and their district Program Management staffs and that our Performance indicators have seen a positive upward trend in NFHS-4 & 5 (National Family Health survey),” Dr Sorhie said.

However, Dr Akuo also mentioned, “we also need to do a lot of work in improving our critical key performance indicator like registration of 1st ANC, 4ANC, Institutional Delivery, Full Immunisation etc. which needs our intervention in finding out the gaps and address them.” She added that the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has come up with RMNCAH+N  in order to have this holistic approach, to ensure optimal health care to the Mother and Child and so reiterate  to the District Program Officers to assure that, all these activities are accorded with equal importance.

Dr Akuo Sorhie expressed hope that these two days will give us an understanding of the status of our key performance indicators under National Health Mission and enable to decide all the critical action for way forward and understand the gaps and challenges faced and bring about ways to bridging the gaps. She encouraged the Officers present to rededicate themselves and work with genuine vigor and give our best shot in achieving our targets.

Dr Longri Kichu gave a presentation on the Key Performance Indicator of Nagaland State which was followed by the District level performance presentation.
