Government has no land of its own and in order to accelerate the pace of developmental activities government has to acquire private land. This was stated in Annual Administrative Report 2021-22 of Planning & Coordination department tabled at the ongoing state assembly session by Neiba Kronu, minister for planning & coordination, land revenue and parliamentary affairs.
During the financial year 2021-22, an amount of Rs 1500.00 lakh was made available under Land Compensation and an amount of Rs. 1397.56 lakh was utilized for acquiring land for various developmental works as under: Acquisition of 61.4 acres of land of for setting up of IISER at Shokhuvi village; Acquisition of 7.72 acres of land for setting up of Government Fish Demonstration farm at Somtso, Pang Village, Noklak District; Acquisition of 23.77 acres of land for Government Polytechnic Institution at Hukpang Village, Longleng; Acquisition of 2 acres of land for establishment of Home Guards and Civil Defence Office at Mon; Acquisition of 7 acres of land at Pherima for setting up of in Service Teachers Training-cum-Examination Centre with Residential Facilities; Acquisition of 9.03 acres of land for Common Cemetery at Zunheboto Town; Acquisition of 24164 Sq. Ft./2245 Sq. Mtrs (0.55 acres) of land occupied by Power Department at Salangtem Ward, Mokokchung.
The report stated that the remaining balance amount of Rs. 102.43 lakh is also expected to be fully utilized.
