Nagaland State Pavilion awarded gold medal at IITF

Dimapur, November 27 (MExN): The Nagaland State Pavilion at the India International Trade Fair 2008 held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, has been adjudged first for excellence in display and has been awarded the gold medal.

The award was presented during the closing ceremony held on November 27 by Jairam Ramesh, Minister for Commerce & Power. After the award ceremony, the Minister visited the Nagaland Pavilion and admired the work done by the Women Self Help Groups of Nagaland and put up for display.

He was deeply impressed by the work done by WSHG under transformative livelihoods programme of the department of women development, Nagaland, in partnership with NAANDI, a national level NGO which imparts consultancy for training of SHGs and marketing of products of SHGs.

The Minister was accompanied by Chairman and Managing Director of ITPO, Sheela Bhide, and other authorities of ITPO. D K Bhalla, Resident Commissioner, in a press release informed that the Minister expressed his desire that the department of women development should expand the work of SHG and that NAANDI must play a much larger role in providing consultancy to the government of Nagaland for marketing of its agricultural and horticultural produce to various parts of the world.
