Longterok Football Club (FC) sealed their place in the Nagaland Super League (NSL) final with a hard-fought extra-time victory over Nagaland United Sporting Club (NUSC) in Playoff-3 at Chümoukedima Football Stadium.
The match remained goalless in regulation time despite both teams pushing forward, backed by passionate supporters. Longterok FC had the upper hand in attack, registering more shots on target, including one that struck the sidebar.
The breakthrough came in the 112th minute when Kakhevi Assumi (jersey 9) capitalised on a rebound after Sangtea’s (jersey 17) shot hit the goalpost, slotting home the decisive goal. The strike sent Longterok FC supporters into a frenzy, while NUSC fans were left in stunned silence.
With this victory, Longterok FC advances to the NSL final, where they will face Barak FC on April 1. Notably, Barak FC’s only defeat in the league came at the hands of Longterok FC, but the final promises to be an entirely different contest.
