31, 241 dwelling units approved by MoHUA

Nagaland’s Municipal Affairs Department on Wednesday recognized the commendable role of the surveyors as well as beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) in Nagaland.
As part of the celebration of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ at Hotel Japfu here today, Nagaland’s Urban Development and Municipal Affairs advisor Dr Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire handed over awards to 32 best surveyors and 29 beneficiaries for best house construction.
In Nagaland, 31, 241 dwelling units have been approved by Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, (MoHUA), Government of India.
5484 units have been completed, 4123 are in the roof stage, 5875 on lintel stage and 5571 on foundation stage.
Further, 30, 841 dwelling units have been geo-tagged grounded and accepted in Bhuvan App as on June 2022.
PMAY (U) changing lives
Gracing the occasion as the special guest, Dr Kire said it is the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to have a self reliant nation, for which he initiated the PMAY (U) scheme and various CSS programme.
The beneficiaries should make best use of the funds provided while surveyors should also be sincere in carry their work to reach the actual beneficiary, he said.
He lauded the beneficiaries who have properly utilised the fund provided for completing their houses.
Dr Kire also appealed to the public not to solely depend on government for everything but they should be taking up personal maintenance work by themselves as government cannot meet all the demands of the public.
A Chenithung Lotha, HoD, Municipal Affairs department Nagaland said that PMAY (U) has change the life of many people in the country.
More than 122 lakhs dwelling units have been sanctioned in the country and many people in Nagaland too benefited from this scheme, he said.
He maintained that PMAY (U) scheme has transformed and improved the livelihood and economic activities and also brought about changes in quality life of the people.
Congratulating the surveyors and beneficiaries who have completed their houses through this scheme, he also requested the team members to continue to give their best to achieve the target within the time frame.
PMAY (U) mission to bring smiles to more families
Temjenrenla Kechu, State Mission Director, PMAY (U) and Joint Director, Municipal Affairs, Nagaland, said that through the mission, many urban poor lives have been changed for the better.
Many families have been provided pucca houses under this mission, she said.
Moving towards fulfilling the goal of providing pucca houses to all eligible beneficiaries in the state, the mission team is working tirelessly to make this happen and that no one is left out, he said.
“Getting access to a dignified living is, perhaps, the most essential factor of one's life. Each day at the Mission, we strive to bring smiles to the faces of more and more families by giving them a home of their own,” Kechu stated in a newsletter.
The Municipal Affairs Department being the Nodal agency for implementing this mission in the state has been transforming many urban poor lives for a better tomorrow, she added.
Kevilenuo Solo, State Nodal Officer, PMAY- HFA (U) Mission and Deputy Director, Municipal Affairs chaired the programme while vote of thanks was proposed by Arika Achumi, Civil Engineer, State Level Technical Cell.
