Phek, September 9 (MExN): The Department of State Taxes, Government of Nagaland, organised a one-day GST training programme for Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs), taxpayers, dealers and stakeholders at the Phek Town Council Hall on September 9.

The event was graced by Phek Deputy Commissioner, Rhosietho Nguori, who delivered an address emphasizing the importance of citizens fulfilling their tax obligations honestly. He noted that these contributions are vital for the state’s welfare and progress. Drawing a reference from the Holy Bible, he quoted, “Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s,” stressing that truthful tax payment is both a civic and moral responsibility. Nguori concluded that honesty in tax compliance fortifies society and fuels development.

The technical session was conducted by a team of experts including Zulutemsu, Assistant Commissioner of State Taxes (ACST) Chümoukedima; Souvitho Nyusou; Elinyiluo Thopi, Commercial State Tax Officer (CSTO) Phek; Zeko Mero; and Biju from the IT team of the Directorate of State Taxes. Topics covered included Tax Deducted at Source (TDS), Tax Compliance Certificate (TCC), Registration, Returns, and Input Tax Credit (ITC). 

The first session catered to Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs), with 56 DDOs and representatives attending, while the second session was designed for taxpayers, dealers, and stakeholders.
