Nagaland will be hosting 2nd Mr Northeast Bodybuilding & Physique Championship 2026 on September 12 at Capital Cultural Hall, Kohima.

Announcing this through a press conference at D’Cafe, Kohima, the championship will be conducted by Nagaland Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (NBFA) under the aegis of the Indian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (IBBFF) and Northeast Bodybuilding Federation (NEBBF).

The NEBBF president Pema WD Bhutia said the championship would bring together athletes from all eight Northeastern states and provide a platform for athletes to gain exposure and compete at a higher level.

Around 70 athletes have tentatively indicated participation, with the organisers expecting 60 to 80 competitors. The final number is expected to be confirmed after state-level selection trials, including those of Assam and Manipur.

The championship will feature nine categories across three divisions.

Men’s Bodybuilding will have six weight categories—up to 55 kg, 60 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg, 75 kg, and 80 kg and above. Men’s Sports Physique will have two height categories—up to 165 cm and above 165 cm—while Women’s Model Physique will be an open category.

Registration and weighing will be conducted on September 11, with the main competition scheduled for September 12. Around 14 to 16 judges from across the Northeast, including international-level judges, are expected to officiate.

The championship would serve as a pathway for athletes progressing from state-level competitions to national events such as the Federation Cup, Mr India and Senior and Junior Nationals, and eventually international competitions.

The press conference was moderated by Thejakhrietuo Kire, General Secretary of NBFA.
