Kohima, November 22 (MExN): The Nagaland Taekwondo team will be participating in the Indo-Nepal International taekwondo championship which is scheduled to be held from November 27 to 28 at Delhi.
All together 20 boys from Taekwondo Sports Academy will be participating in the championship in different categories of pewee, sub-junior, cadet, junior and senior.
The team will be leaving by Tuesday (November 23) to Delhi to participate in the championship.
Team coach Visabiu Peseyie said owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, they couldn’t take part in any championship from last year till date. However, with more relaxation, the academy is now able to participate.
The coach also acknowledged DYRS Director, Akumla Chuba for allowing Taekwondo Sports academy, IG stadium to represent the state at the International taekwondo championship.
Adding that some of the players have already won medals at National school games, sub-junior and junior National taekwondo championship, he said intensive training has been conducted for weeks and the coach was hopeful that his students can perform better and expect more medals for the state at the upcoming championship.
Meanwhile, the Department of Youth Resources and Sports Nagaland also have extended their best wishes and success to the team that will be representing the state.
The team coach is led by Visabiu Peseyie, State Taekwondo Coach, Department of Youth Resources and Sports and Keneingulie Khezhie as team manager.
The team taking part for pewee category includes Pauninglungbe, Pauziechangbe, P Athongti. For sub-junior category, the team includes Lensenthong, Manong A, T Konyak, Wongpanthong A, Longshi.
Those in cadet category are Manhei Konyak, Lhuvosayi Vasa, Thongti Thonger, Lungkan Phom, K. Yimkiumong, N. Tenloi Phom, Nnumhei. Those in junior category are Hinglakpo, Neikhozo Naprantsu, Kiutsu Yimchumger, Haichilung Hegwang, while Keyinchigongbe Hega and Vilabizo Nagi will be taking part in the senior category.
