Taking the audience through an emotional journey of a mother, who loses her only son to addiction and subsequently death, the Tribal Acts presented its first play called 'A Mother's Love' at State Academy Hall, Kohima on Saturday evening.

Directed by Kusa Lohe, the play revolves around a mother who goes through so much pain seeing her son lose track of life, and bore even the most shameful comments for the sake of her child. A fitting tribute to mothers being screened on the eve of Mother’s Day, the show also conveyed the measure of a mother’s love.

Earlier, Dr Vevo Phesao, Senior Pastor, Chakhesang Baptist Church Ministers' Hill, Kohima spoke about whatever has been reflected in the Bible about mother's love. “Motherhood is a gift from God”, he said while expressing that, “We see this in the Bible, which says profoundly that we are the rewards of the womb. We are all the seeds of the womb and we are a gift from God.”

Staging this act, he added, “is very meaningful” and urged the gathering to remember the love of their mothers. Before the start of the show, he had also remarked that “it is going to be a very profound time if not an emotional time.” He further congratulated the Tribal Acts and commended them for their creativity and innovative idea in the form of the play.

In his closing remarks, Director of the show, Kusa Lohe highlighted that this is their first venture as Tribal Acts, which brought them together with the same passion for the art. Every venture, he pointed out “starts with a struggle” and that it took them several weeks to practice and a lot of effort, time and labour has gone into making the play a reality.

“Our intention is to entertain and educate. If you have enjoyed the show, I request you on behalf of the team— please go and talk about us,” he added.
