Nagaland: Tsüngremmung Angling Competition underway

Inclement weather conditions did not dampen the spirits of angling enthusiasts as the two-day Tsüngremmung Angling Competition got underway here today at Süngkotenem Lake, Mopungchuket organized by the Core Committee of the Tsüngremmung Hornbill Festival Mokokchung 2018 in association with the Mopungchuket Community Tourism Society.  

A total of 81 anglers registered to compete today and more are expected to join the competition tomorrow. There are five prizes to be won in this competition and the ultimate winners will be adjudged after tabulating the catches made by the competing anglers on both days. The various prizes at stake are awards for the biggest three catches, the most number of catches and the highest gross weight of catches made worth a total amount of Rs.50,000/- along with certificates.  

As of day one preliminary results, Yabang and Tongpang from Mokokchung made the biggest weighing 0.89 and 0.81 kgs respectively while Achet stood at third place with his catch of 0.48 kgs.  

For the most number of catches award (more than 4 catches), Temsu was leading the competition with 6 catches with Tongpang closely coming in with 5 catches. For the highest gross weight award, Temsu was leading with 1.98 kgs while Tongpang finished the day with 1.47 kgs. It may be noted that the competition is being held on “one person, one prize” basis.
