Kohima, December 14 (MExN): The Nagaland GIS & Remote Sensing Centre (NGISRSC) and the North Eastern Space Application Centre (NESAC), Department of Space, Government of India, jointly organised a user interaction session on December 14.
The event highlighted discussions on the Plan of Action in geospatial applications and featured a thorough demonstration of the North East Spatial Data Repository (NeSDR). The meeting took place at the Training and Capacity Building Hub, NGISRSC Kohima, a DIPR report stated.
The event was graced by R Ramakrishnan IAS, Principal Secretary, and Development Commissioner, Government of Nagaland. In his address, he commended the initiatives of the Nagaland GIS, expressing appreciation for their efforts. Ramakrishnan urged the participating line departments to collaborate and leverage the numerous advantages offered by space-based geospatial applications for the betterment of society.

Dr Dibyajyoti Chutia, Head of Geoinformatics and IT (GID) at the North Eastern Space Application Centre (NESAC), delivered an engaging presentation on Emerging Technologies. During the session, he provided a live demonstration of the North East Spatial Data Repository (NeSDR) within a Governance application, showcasing the practical application of cutting-edge technology.
Merenwapang, Deputy Project Director at NGISRSC presented a detailed overview of Nagaland's Geospatial Plan of Action. Leading the technical session, he guided discussions on crucial plan components, promoting an interactive and informative exchange among participants.
Er M Kithan, Project Director of NGISRSC, extended a warm welcome to all participants, setting the stage for the user meet. In his opening remarks, he provided insights into the meet's agenda and underscored the ongoing Plan of Action activities in collaboration with various line departments.
The event saw active participation from a total of 15-line departments, reflecting a diverse engagement in the user meet, the report added.
