North East Games 2024: Nagaland win two bronze in Wushu, eyes six more medals

Chümoukedima, March 19 (MExN): The Wushu competition for the ongoing North East Games 2024 commenced on Tuesday at the Sovima Futsal ground. 

The three-day event features 58 athletes from Manipur, Mizoram, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland vying for a total of 10 gold medals across various weight categories.

As per the Nagaland Wushu Association (NWA), the State’s team is still in contention to win at least six medals, while the women’s fighters had to settle for two bronzes after losing their respective semifinal matches.

On Tuesday, Sovima Village Council Chairman Sebastian Zumvu attended the opening ceremony as the inaugural guest. The Wushu competition concludes on March 20 evening with the closing ceremony, featuring Neiyalie Angami, Treasurer of the Nagaland Olympic Association, as the guest of honour.
