Nagaland Zoological Park holds awareness prog on importance of forest and wildlife

Kohima, March 11 (MExN): An awareness programme on importance of forest and wildlife organized by Nagaland Zoological Park, Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change was held at Botanical Garden, Kohima on March 7.
The programme was attended by staff of Blyth’s Tragopan Conservation and Breeding Centre, Puliebadze Wildlife Sanctuary, teachers and students of Classes 6-8 of Dainty Buds and Mount Sinai Higher Secondary schools Kohima.
Speaking on the occasion, Director of Nagaland Zoological Park, Rangapahar, Dr Prabhat Kumar, IFS stressed on the importance of forest and wildlife and the need to conserve and protect it. He spoke on the consequences faced by wildlife due to excessive hunting for both commercial and livelihood. In this, he encouraged the younger generation to have the mindset of protecting the wildlife.
A quiz was conducted wherein basic general knowledge about Nagaland was asked, while field visit was also conducted.
The programme led by Forester-I Kiushensi S. Yimchunger started with invocation by Officer-in-charge of Blyth’s Tragopan Conservation and Breeding Centre, Deputy Ranger Medolezo Kire while Field Assistant Kanili Rhakho tendered the vote of thanks.
