Nagaland’s COVID-19 cases breached the 22,000-mark on Wednesday with 218 new COVID-19 cases, which took the State’s tally to 22,072.
The 22K milestone on Wednesday indicates an accumulation of more than a thousand COVID-19 cases in a span of 6 days. Earlier, the State’s caseload crossed the 20K mark on May 27 with confirmation of 228 fresh cases which took the tally to 21,023.
According to an update from State Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom, the new cases were reported from the districts of Dimapur (86), Mokokchung (40), Kohima (34) Tuensang (31), Phek (9), Wokha (7), Zunheboto (5), Kiphire (3) and one each in Longleng, Mon and Peren.
Meanwhile, the State also recorded 94 recoveries on June 2, which took the recovery tally to 16,205.
As per the update, Dimapur and Kohima had 20 recoveries each, while Longleng reported 12 recoveries; Mokokchung 10, Mon 9, Tuensang 8, Kiphire 6, Zunheboto 5 and Wokha had 4 recoveries respectively.
The total number of active cases in the State at present is 4,832, out of which 209 are currently admitted in the COVID hospital while 4341 are under home isolation, as per the COVID-19 bulletin issued by the State Health department.
The death toll in the State also increased after 14 new deaths were reported in a span of 24 hours. Dimapur and Kohima reported 4 deaths each while 2 deaths were reported from Zunheboto. Kiphire, Mokokchung, Phek and Tuensang reported one death each on June 2.
Till date, 386 persons have succumbed to the infection as per the bulletin. 13 deaths have also been listed in the ‘not COVID related’ category.
