Nagas urged to act in clarity

Big slogans with no action is of no help

Dimapur, July 15 (MExN): Every Naga tribe, organization and individual must take a “clear stand” and act accordingly; it is futile to have big slogans and many declarations without translating it into actions, according to citizens of Mokokchung. The Concerned Citizens Forum of Mokokchung today issued a note urging the Naga people and their leaders “in particular” to act in ‘clarity with more commitment.’

The forum acknowledged the “cruciality” of the Indo-Naga political process and has urged the Nagas “to seize upon the present opportunity to crystallize into concrete reality the unrealized dreams of the Naga people.”

The forum explained: “It should be a defining moment for each and every Naga tribe, organization and individuals to take a clear stand and act in accordance with it. It would indeed be futile to have big slogans and many declarations without translating it into actions. For the Nagas the need at the moment is our commitment to our words.” The CCFM urges the Naga people and the leaders “in particular to act in clarity with more commitment.”

The forum also reaffirmed strong support to the May 8 2010, Naga Hoho declaration on “the rights of the Naga People and their ancestral lands.” “This very declaration is historic. It brings unity and strength to the Naga people and it must provide the guiding principle for the future of our people. The CCFM, therefore urged the Naga leaders and the hohos in particular to strive in translating their historic declaration into action so that it helps to fulfill the long held aspiration of the Naga people,” the forum said.
