Dimapur, February 18 (MExN): A novel in Ao vernacular, title “Naro Molok” translated by P. Alem Jamir was released today by prominent orator and book author Imtijungla Longchar at Breeze Restaurant, Dimapur. “Naro Molok” is the translation of the novel originally published in English under the title “The Basket of Flowers.” The book was released in the presences of family members and Dimapur Press Club.
Speaking as the special guest, Imtijungla appreciated the contribution of Alem Jamir in enriching the Ao literature with his novels. She encouraged him to continue working with commitment and writing more in the future as well. Also addressing the DPC members, Imtijungla exhorted them not to be discouraged by the attitude and mindset of the people towards media fraternity. Later, she said the dedicatory prayer for the book.
Earlier, giving a short speech Alem Jamir said that the novel was a kind of Christian ministry through literature because the story is very much in line with the Biblical teachings.
P. Alem Jamir from Changtongya Village is currently working as the sub-editor of the Ao vernacular daily “Tir Yim Yim.” He is the ex-editor of Lanur Teimla, the official organ of the Ao Christian Youth Endeavor under Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM), Impur. He is married to Imtimenla Ozüküm and they have a daughter Imnasen and son Osangmanen. Some of the books authored and published by P. Alem Jamir includes: Tansütsü Otsü-Tsürabur aser Lanur (2003); Genevieve in Ao-Naga (2004); Sobaliba Mongchen (2006) and Mulungdangtsü Otsü (2008).
“Naro Molok” will be available in the market after a week at ABAM Book Depot, Mokokchung and Christian Literature Centre, Dimapur at the cost of rupees 100 only.
