The Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat programme was held today Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School (RGHSS), Kohima, to promote awareness among young people on the harmful effects of substance abuse and encourage them to lead a drug-free life.
The programme was organised by the NSS Unit of Rüzhükhrie GHSS in collaboration with Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, under MY Bharat initiative.
Pradeep J, District Youth Officer, MY Bharat, Kohima & Wokha, conducted the MY Bharat orientation and highlighted the role of the platform in youth-led development.
Youth icon Kepozo Kapuh, who administered the Nasha Mukt pledge to the NSS volunteers, said substance abuse was silently taking away the energy, health and ambition of young people.
He also called for greater support for people struggling with addiction through treatment, counselling and rehabilitation.
The programme was chaired by Moatemsu Jamir, PO NSS while welcome address was delivered by Kote-ü Sekhamo, Vice Principal, RGHSS. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by B. Orenvungo Yanthan, PO NSS.
The programme brought together NSS volunteers, students, youth representatives and school authorities, reinforcing the message of a drug-free India and a healthier, stronger and responsible youth community.
