Kohima, December 17 (MExN): The Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection(LMCP), Nagaland and the Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organization (NVCO) would be launching à week-long celebration of National Consumer Day on December 18 at the State capital.
NVCO President Kezhokhoto Savi said that every year December 24 is observed as National Consumer Day and on this day the Consumer Protection Act 1986 had received the assent of the President of India. The enactment of this Act is considered historic in the consumer movement in the country, the Press and Media Cell of the NVCO stated in a press release on Thursday.
The week-long observance from December 18 to 24 would be held under the national theme ‘The Sustainable Consumer’ and would highlight the rights and responsibilities of the consumers and also highlight several areas based on the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, the release informed.
