Lumami, November 18 (MExN): The Department of Chemistry, Nagaland University, Lumami conducted the inaugural session of its virtual national e-seminar on the theme ‘Chemistry in Emerging Trends of Interdisciplinary Research’ (NeSCETIR - 2020) on November 18.
Held in online mode through Google Meet, the seminar will continue till November 20.
According to a press release from the PRO, NU, the inaugural session was chaired by Dr I Tovishe Phucho, Asst Professor, Dept of Chemistry. The welcome address was delivered by Prof M Indira Devi, HoD, Dept of Chemistry, followed by a short speech from Prof Sangyu Yaden, Dean, School of Sciences.
Releasing the abstracts book, Prof Pardeshi Lal, Vice-Chancellor, NU, applauded the Department for choosing a relevant theme and said that chemistry provides a solid base for almost all disciplines dealing with life and life processes.
The keynote address titled ‘Exploring Chemical Space’ was delivered by Dr Garikapati Narahari Sastry, Director, CSIR-NEIST, Jorhat.
The inaugural session came to a close with the words of appreciation from Dr S Dushila Devi, Asst Professor, Dept of Chemistry.
A total of 32 abstracts were received for the e-Seminar which is sponsored by Nagaland University and DST, New Delhi.
There would be 7 invited talks and 24 oral presentations over the course of three days, the release stated.
