A three-day trade fair dubbed as the “National Innovate, Integrate, and Expand (NIIE) Trade fair 2022,” is set to take place between November 3-5 at Agri Expo Centre, 4th Mile, Dimapur. This was announced by members of Business Association of Nagas (BAN) and government officials during a press conference with media persons at the aforesaid venue on October 31.
Organised by BAN, the event will be supported and sponsored by Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) along with the State government. Apart from local entrepreneurs, participants of the trade fair will include companies from India (banking, finance and automobile), export/business promoting agencies, State departments and organisations promoting SMEs.
According to Ben Yanthan, Convenor of NIIE Expo, this year’s edition of the trade fair will focus primarily, but not exclusively, on women entrepreneurs of the State; wherein, 30% of the participants will comprise of women.
He further mentioned that the highlight event will be the Business Summit (November 4 & 5) aimed at examining opportunities for investors & entrepreneurs. This includes discussions on local employment, logistics, agri-tourism, business financing and promotion of local and women entrepreneurs, along with a food court section which will provide exotic delicacies of Nagaland and Northeast region.
Mongkhum Jamir, President, BAN meanwhile noted that since its founding in 2013, BAN was formed primarily on the basis of promoting Naga entrepreneurs across all borders. As such, he observed that there were numerous unseen, untapped and unrecognized Naga entrepreneurs from different districts in Nagaland. This consequently led to the decision to host a national trade fair, whereby they could showcase their products to the outside world. “The need of the hour today is to activate MSMEs in the state to invest and to grow,” he added.
Dr Yan Murry, General Secretary, BAN, announced that Nagaland Governor, Prof Jagdish Mukhi will inaugurate the trade fair at 2 PM on October 3. In regard to the business summit, he said 25 panellists from Central and State government departments were confirmed to speak during the event.
Tali Wati Longchar, Joint Director, MSME stated that the trade expo will include 16 participants from the other NE states such as Assam, Manipur, Sikkim and Meghalaya. He also revealed that schemes amounting Rs 5 crore is available for the tourism sector.
In addition, an entertainment section will be included during the trade fair where young upcoming artistes will be provided an opportunity to showcase their talent.
It was also made known that a total of Rs 25 lakhs was sanctioned by the Ministry of MSME for the entire three day trade fair.
