National Lily Cup kicks-off in Ukhrul

Ukhrul/Hunphun | October 17: The enchanting Shirui Lily Cup National Level Football Tournament commenced today with much fanfare, lore and romance coming alive with much gusto reminding of the olden golden era, though neglect has taken its toll in the last decades. Associated with lore and romance, the soccer fever came alive with 10 teams participating from the North-east vying for the coveted crown of the 28th edition of Shirui Lily Cup at the national level with much applaud and enthusiasm from the hungry crowd. The Imphal team KLASA drew the first blood in the First Half with Jersey No. 15, Mr.Homeshwor, scoring at the 30 minutes of the first game in a suave move. However, the host Ukhrul Football Club equalised by playing with full spirit within 10 minutes in  the penalty kick by jersy No. 10 Mr. M. Yarmi. It was a game of competition, blood and sweat. However, in the penalty shoot-out KLASA got the better of the two.  Being very competitive it is reckoned that a tough fight is in the offing in the coming days.
