DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 10 (MExN): The Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA), under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), will conduct the third quarterly National Lok Adalat of 2026 across all district headquarters on September 12.
According to the NSLSA, 11 Lok Adalat benches will be set up at the District Court premises by the respective District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs). Lok Adalat is an alternative dispute resolution mechanism through which cases pending before courts, as well as disputes at the pre-litigation stage, can be settled or compromised speedily and amicably. The NSLSA said the quarterly National Lok Adalat has enabled citizens to settle disputes free of cost across the State.
Persons with pending or pre-litigation disputes relating to civil matters, matrimonial disputes, Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) cases and petty offences have been invited to approach the Lok Adalat. Disputes may also be submitted before the date of the sitting at the DLSA front offices at the respective District Court buildings.
The NSLSA said disputes can also be submitted at its Member Secretary's office at the DC Office Compound, Kohima. For further information, the authority can be contacted at 0370-2290153 or through email at nslsa.nagaland@yahoo.in.
The disposal data from each DLSA will subsequently be uploaded on the State Legal Services Authority's web portal. During the second quarterly National Lok Adalat held on May 9, a total of 402 cases were taken up, of which 220 were disposed of. The total settlement amount was ₹3,66,21,476.
