National Lok Adalat disposes 102 Cases in Nagaland

Kohima, February 13 (MExN): National Lok Adalat successfully observed today throughout the State of Nagaland. The Lok Adalat was conducted on ‘banking matter & recovery suit’ by the respective District Legal Services Authority. Presiding Judges and two Conciliators sat in each District. Panel Lawyers and Para Legal Volunteers assisted the Litigants who came to get relieve.  

A total of 636 cases were taken up and total of 102 Cases were disposed, with a settlement amount of Rupees 77,08,098/- (seventy seven lakhs eight thousand ninety eight).  

The participating Banks includes Central Bank of India, State Bank of India, Vijaya Bank, Allahabad Bank, Nagaland State Co-operative Bank, Bank of Baroda, Punjab & Sindh Bank.  

Lok Adalat Nodal Officer, Nagaland State Legal Services Authority, Kohima has informed in a press release that the next National Lok Adalat is scheduled to be held on March 12, on the subject, Civil and Revenue cases, Traffic/Banks at all the District Headquarter.  

DDLSA settle 23 cases relating to bank matters

imapur, February 13 (MExN): The Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) organized National Lok Adalat on February 13, where 23 cases relating to bank matters were settled.

Claims amounting to a total of Rs. 20,56,692/- (Rupees twenty lakh fifty six thousand six hundred and ninety two) only were settled at the Lok Adalat thereby avoiding protracted legal proceedings in respect of the claims.  

The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Neiko Kanuo, District and Sessions Judge, Dimapur, who is also the Chairman of the DDLSA.  

Lok Adalats are an alternative dispute resolution mechanism which provide speedy disposal of cases where parties settle disputes primarily through mutual agreement. The DDLSA has held a number of such Lok Adalats where several cases have been successfully settled.  

The next Lok Adalat to be held on March 12 will deal with cases pertaining to Civil and Revenue Cases, Traffic & Banks. The public are encouraged to avail of these services the details of which may be obtained from the Front Office of the DDLSA at the District Court building at Dimapur.  

Mokokchung Lok Adalat recovers pending loans

Mokokchung, February 13 (MExN):  Initiated by Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority (MDLSA) the Lok Adalat (People’s Court) today settled eight cases regarding recovery of bank loans amounting to more than seven lakhs.

The Lok Adalat, which was chaired by District & Session Judge and Chairman of MDLSA, settled cases relating to recovery loans for three banks – the State Bank of India (Rs 490975), Nagaland State Cooperative Bank Limited (Rs 15,0973) and Allahabad Bank (Rs.14,3000).  

Out of the eight cases, the SBI produced five cases, the Nagaland State Cooperative Bank Limited - one case and the Allahabad Bank produce two case.  

This is the first Lok Adalat (people’s court) being held in Mokokchung for the year 2016 by the MDLSA.  

The Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority, which is one of the most active legal services associations in the state, will be holding a raining-cum-orientation on February 23, 2016 at Longkumer Kilem for retainer lawyers, panel lawyers, para-legal volunteers and stake holders. The training will be held on the topic about the rights of prisoners and accused in criminal cases, Women’s Rights, RTI and Consumer Rights. The training will also focus on the role of the para-legal volunteers and stakeholders with regard to the rights and duties of every concerned citizen for a just-peace society.
