Kohima, April 20 (MExN): The National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) conducted its review meeting at the Conference Hall, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Kohima along with the Medical Consultants, WHO (NTEP) and Districts TB Officers on April 19.
Dr Robin Lotha, State TB Officer (NTEP) chaired the meeting. Dr Collins Z Sono, Medical Consultant WHO (NTEP), highlighted about the NTEP performance based on TB notification vs Achievement, TB Comorbidity, Nikshay Poshan Yojana, Universal Drug Sensitivity Testing, screening for HIV among TB patients Treatment Success Rate, Drug Resistant TB patients on shorter regime, Contact Tracing & Chemoprophylaxis, Active case findings etc. A press release from State TB Officer (NTEP) said that this was followed by presentation of best performing district with certificate along with cash prize, Wokha district secured the 1st position, and 2nd was awarded to Phek district and 3rd to Kiphire district.
Mission Director NHM, Dr I Talitemsula Jamir who also attended the meeting reminded the staff about the importance of conducting review meeting as we learn from each other through exchanging of ideas and views which in turn leads to better result. She encouraged the Districts TB Officers to conduct review meeting at district level and emphasized the importance monitoring/supervision at block wise.
Dr Palash Talukdar, Medical Consultant WHO (NTEP) shared on newer Initiatives like Latent TB Infection Management, Vulnerable Mapping, Revised guidelines on Drug Resistant TB. Temjenochetla Ao, PPM Co-ordinator shared on Multi-sectoral collaboration which is also one vital component of the Programme. Jan Andolan Campaign which is also a part of Advocacy Communication and Social Mobilization activity is to be emphasized in 2021.
