National Unity & National Re-Dedication day on Oct 31

Kohima, October 26 (MExN): Government of Nagaland will be observing the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, the First Home Minister of Independent India as National Unity Day on October 31.  

On the same day National Re-Dedication Day will also be observed to commemorate the death anniversary of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.  

Accordingly, the following events may be organized by all Government Offices/Directorates/Deputy Commissioner's and SPs: Pledge taking for National Unity Day and National Re-Dedication Day as per the Pledge; Run for Unity at District HQs and State HQ to be coordinated by respective Deputy Commissioner's/SP's/PHQ/YRS; March Past in the evening at various Police/Battalion HQs.  

An Essay Competition to be organised by School Education Department on the topic ‘National Unity Day’ for Students of Class 8 to Class 12.  

Further the Home Commissioner has requested all concerned to take necessary action and the report on activities organized along with the photographs to be submitted after observance of the day.  

In the Nagaland Civil Secretariat the programme will be held at the conference hall, Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima at 1:00 pm where Chief Secretary, R.B. Thong will chair the programme. He will also be delivering the speech and administer the Pledge.
