NBCC calls for 12-hour fasting, prayer on Oct 1

Dimapur, September 27 (MExN): The Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has called for 12 hours of fasting and prayer from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm on October 1.

NBCC General Secretary Rev Dr Zelhou Keyho has called on all the Baptist members including Executive Secretaries and pastors to lead the churches in prayer for the healing of the land.

While the world is just recovering from the deadly effects of the Coronavirus, which has affected societies, churches, and families, “Yet, the news of an older virus continues to affect many segments of our society – and even our churches – the endemic sin (virus) of the heart which is manifested in violence, division, and great suffering of humanity,” Rev Keyho stated in a press release on Tuesday.

Rev Keyho also noted that it is the Jubilee year for the Naga people and the Sesquicentennial (150 years) Celebration of Christianity in Nagaland would be held on November 19 and 20, 2022. “Pray for the ongoing preparation and the various Committees for God’s guidance, provision and protection,” he added.

Among other prayer points, Rev Keyho called on the people to pray “for a revival and an outpouring of God’s Spirit to fall in our church, villages, Towns, state, nation.”

Seeking prayers for the church, he also said that though the “church is meant to walk in unity and God’s love. Sadly, this is not always what is happening in the body of Christ.”

Pray for unity within the body. That disaccord, disunity, offense, and rejection would have no place in the church, he stated in the release, while also appealing for prayers for church and governmental leaders.

With the general elections likely to be held in 2023, he further mentioned the Clean Election Movement; calling for prayers for the candidates and the voters as well.

Further, Rev Keyho also called on the Naga people to pray for a viable solution to the Naga political situation and for peace and harmony among all tribes.

“Pray for the National workers to desist from all kinds of evil practices and become true and faithful to God and to the people. Pray for all the leaders of Naga Political groups that there will be understanding, healing and reconciliation among them,” he added.
