Praise Festival Kohima 2018, an event focusing on the concept of praise and worship will be held on October 26 at NBCC Convention Centre starting from 12 noon till 7:00 pm. Organised by the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) Youth Department and Nagaland Cornerstone TV (NCTV), the event will feature The Warehouse Worship Dimapur, James Basnet & Band, Sinai Ministry, Dimapur and Chakhesang Baptist Church Kohima Ministers’ Hill Worship Band (CBCMHK).
Addressing a press conference on October 23 at Dream Café Kohima, the organizers informed that the Praise Festival is free of costs and is open to all denominations and including non-Christians. However, a free will donation will be carried out. According to the organizers, the event will witness one of the best praise and worship leaders in Nagaland as well as North east region.
Bridging the gap
Wabang Moa, Director, Nagaland Cornerstone TV stated that the festival is being held to encourage young people and local churches on the importance of worship. With the increasing gap between the young and old in the area of music especially in local churches, the event also hopes to bridge the gap by holding workshops and introducing a blend of music and songs from both the old and young generation.
The festival will feature workshops on the themes ‘Understanding Praise and Worship’, ‘Worship in the local church’, ‘Working with the praise and worship band and church media’ and song writing. Moa also provided a brief introduction on Nagaland Cornerstone TV which is a 24/7 local channel in Dimapur and Mokokchung which highlights regular Naga programs. With negative news and views often permeating in Naga society, the NCTV aims to provide positive thinking and outlook through social cultural perspectives and programs under the tagline ‘Positive Believe’. For the Praise Festival, Wabang Moa informed that NCTV will be livestreaming the event on TV and Facebook.
Khotuo Yaotsu, Member, Nagaland Cornerstone TV viewed that very few members in the church realize the importance of Praise and worship. The ‘Word’ and ‘Praise’ are two important components of Christian belief; according to Yaotsu who opined that the ‘Word’ is emphasized more often than ‘Praise’ in many churches. “This event will thus, help young people the importance of Praise,’ asserted Yaotsu.
