Kohima, November 6 (MExN): The North East Region (NER) Trek–II (Wokha), an All-India NCC trekking camp, commenced on November 4 at the Assam Rifles Complex in Wokha district, Nagaland.

Held under the aegis of NCC Group Headquarters, Kohima, the eight-day camp has drawn participation from 510 NCC cadets from Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and the North-East States, a PRO and spokesperson of the Ministry of Defence, Kohima, informed.

Scheduled to conclude on November 11, the camp aims to provide cadets with meaningful exposure to Nagaland’s natural landscapes, promote healthy outdoor activities such as hiking and trekking, and foster a deeper appreciation for nature.

For trekking activities, cadets have been organised into four groups undertaking day hikes across the Wokha region, including Mount Tiyi, the Doyang Water Reservoir, and New Wokha Village. The programme also includes cultural enrichment through visits to the Mini Hornbill Festival, organised by the State Cultural Department, allowing cadets to experience Nagaland’s rich heritage, diversity, and traditions.
