Dimapur, October 10 (MExN): The Psychology Programme of North East Christian University (NECU), in collaboration with Chavara Home, observed World Mental Health Day at Chavara Home, Community Care Centre, Naharbarri, Dimapur, on October 10.

The programme was held under the theme “Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change”, highlighting the importance of listening to people with lived experiences of mental health difficulties and recognising their voices in promoting mental health awareness and care.

The first session began with a welcome address and compering by Limi K Yeptho, followed by a theme talk by Nenchu Kath.

Niutoli Tuccu Jamir delivered a talk on “The Art of Coping”, focusing on practical tools to manage life’s challenges and cope with difficult situations.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Sr Foustina, Child Welfare Officer.

The second session, titled “Healing in Practice”, included a counselling and reflection session, providing participants with an opportunity to reflect on mental health and the importance of emotional support.

The programme highlighted the need to listen to people’s experiences, reduce stigma surrounding mental health and promote greater understanding and care for those facing mental health difficulties. It also emphasised that every person’s experience matters and that listening with understanding can contribute to meaningful change in mental health care.
