Need to raise awareness on trafficking victims

Dignitaries during the observance of International Day on Against Human Trafficking held in Phek on July 30.

 

Phek, July 30 (MExN): The International Day on Anti Human Trafficking was observed by district administration Phek DLCW, Mahila Shakti Kendra Phek and Sakhi- One Stop Centre, Phek in collaboration with DEF Phek and 5th NAP Bn Phek on July 30.

 


Altogether, 300 participants, comprising of law enforcement personnel, youth, leaders from different organizations and NGOs attended the programme.

 


T. Lemlila Sangtam SDO (C) Phek in her keynote address highlighted the aims and objectives of conducting the day. She stressed that such a day was necessary to “raise awareness of the situation of victims of human trafficking and for the promotion and protection of their rights".

 


Ketubu, DCPO Phek highlighted the importance of spreading awareness and sensitization campaign regarding Anti Human Trafficking.

 


Jitsiasa Nyusou, Centre Administrator Sakhi- One Stop Centre, Phek presented a documentary on human trafficking while Vileno Kapu Women Welfare Officer DLCW, Mahila Shakti Kendra Phek emphasized on the importance of empowering women by availing women related Schemes and programmes to alleviate the menace in the society.

 


Samuel Pohena and DLCW MSK, Phek enthralled the event with a special number. Earlier, James Ovung, SDPO Phek chaired the programme while welcome address was delivered by Hongkin Chang Dy. C.O. 5th NAP Bn. Tokavi Achumi, Additional SP Phek proposed vote of thanks.
