Dimapur, March 31 (MExN): The North East Farmers’ Federation of India (NEFFI) has appealed to the Government of India to create a congenial atmosphere for early settlement of the Farm Bills issue with the agitating stakeholders, with patience and understanding. “With the country in the midst of a second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, it would be wise on the part of the Government to withdraw the imposed new Farm Bills,” the federation stated in a press release on Wednesday.
Lamenting that loss of lives in the long-standing imbroglio between the farmers and the centre, the federation stated that the unresolved differences would also have a serious repercussion on the overall economy of the country.
It further stated that the Marketing Intervention System (MIS) policy of the country should also be implemented effectively on horticultural crops in the North East Region. This, it said, would go a long way in exploring the potential of the region with maximum productivity per unit area, to the best extent possible.
The statement was resolved by the federation in its virtual executive meeting held on March 30 with an appeal to the Prime Minister of India for his deeper understanding and action, the release stated.
