At the consultative meeting between the state government and all stakeholders including mass based civil society, church organisations, tribal hohos, political parties and NGOs at State Banquet Hall on March 9, two important resolutions on the Naga political issue were adopted.
The house made a call to the negotiating parties to earnestly heed to the call of the people for an early solution.
The two-point resolution was appended by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Deputy Chief Minister, Yanthungo Patton and United Democratic Alliance Chairperson TR Zeliang and endorsed by 212 participants.
“The Naga people are yearning for an early political solution. The negotiating parties should earnestly heed to this call and arrive at a political solution that is honourable, inclusive, transparent ad acceptable to the people. The house further appeals to all sections to make renewed efforts towards unity and understanding in order to work towards one solution and one agreement,” the resolution document stated.
Terming the meeting as one of the highest intellectual meeting, Minister Neiba Kronu who chaired the meeting said, “This is not just an appeal but a call to ‘heed’ to the aspiration of the people for an early solution.”
In connection with a recent statement from the Working Committee, Naga National Political groups, Kronu explained the stand of the state government and said, “they are negotiating but we are all stakeholders, and we all are involved.” The government as ‘facilitator’ is serious about it, he added.
“Everyone is involved. Everybody wants early solution. For how long will we continue? It’s time to put our heads together and discuss so that solution comes early,” Kronu maintained.
Reiterating the call to the negotiating parties, Advisor Mmhonlumo Kikon stated “we, as facilitators have limited roles, but we are playing our roles pro-actively till date.”
It was also informed that following today’s meeting; Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and UDA Chairperson are leaving for Delhi on March 10 to meet the Union Home Minister.
