NEISSR concludes orientation programme for new batch

Dimapur, September 5 (MExN): The North East Institute of Social Sciences & Research concluded its 7-day orientation programme for the new 2021-23 batch of students. 

According to a press release from the NEISSR on Sunday, the programme started with an inspirational talk from Principal Dr Fr CP Anto who welcomed the new students. He stressed on the core values of NEISSR which are spirituality, integrity, punctuality, transparency, humility, leadership, mindfulness, and he also spoke about 7 pillars of holistic development, inclusive culture, sustainability, educational innovation, student centric learning, research leadership and community engagement, based on which the institute provide an experience of teaching and learning, the release stated.

After the inaugural session 6 resource persons took inspiring and enlightening sessions, it added. The sessions covered topics ranging from character building, stress management, public speaking, the preamble of the Indian Constitution, the fundamental rights and duties, qualities of great leaders, challenges of youths today, impact of alcohol and tobacco on youth, method of doing social works, importance of dialogue, time management and timeline, expectation of social work organisation, social issues and response, the release stated. 

At the end of the 7-day programme, a feedback session was taken from the students, it added. 

Change of guard in students’ council 
Meanwhile, the official ‘Handing over- Taking over’ programme for the NEISSR Students' Council was conducted on September 4 at NEISSR hall. 

On the occasion, Principal and Founder of Peace Channel Dimapur Fr CP Anto emphasising on the role played by the Students’ Council since the inception of the institute as it aims at enhancing the students interest by collaboration with the faculties. He also underscored that it is the duty of the Students' Council to take care of the students and in order to fulfill the dreams of the students, they should collaborate with the faculty to help the students find out their interests and what they want to achieve. 

Student Welfare Officer Dr Deben Sharma introduced the new executives and their posts and wished the newly elected members the best in everything they do. While exhorting the members to work together and strengthen one another, Dr Sharma also made suggestions that he hoped would develop capacities in the area of implementing programmes and make the campus a creative learning space, the release informed. 

Further, former student council president Sinlo Semp congratulated the new Students' Council while former assistant general secretary Longtila Sangtam highlighted the activities of 2020-2021.

As per the release, Principal Fr CP Anto administered the oath taking of the new Students' Council and Fr Joseph blessed them with a prayer, following which the new president Livino S Zhimo gave a brief speech. 

Thanking the outgoing Students' Council for their leadership, Zhimo assured that the new team would strive to do better, build their strengths and take on new directions, the release stated.
