Dimapur, January 24 (MExN): Commemorating the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, the people Ruzazho village under Phek district presented folk songs in his memory on January 23.
According to a press release received here on Sunday, Dr Vekho Swuro, chairperson of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Development Society Nagaland said the day was also marked as Parakram Divas or a day of valour. The release stated that the people of Ruzazho village also composed a folk song in memory of Netaji in the local language, which can be translated as "Subhash Bose is our only love, one brave man come to Ruzazho village, to liberate India to attain freedom. May his mission be accomplished!"
Dr Swuro said that in 1944, Netaji came to Naga Hills, stayed at Ruzazho village and appointed Dobashi and Gaon Burah. He also claimed that Indian Council of Historical Research has recognised Ruzazho village as the first administered village by Azad Hind Fauj in India in 1944.
Marking the day of Parakram Divas, Dr Swuro urged everyone to dedicate themselves for nationalism and remember the thoughts and the visions of Netaji.
Assam Rifles: The Mokokchung Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted various activities such as lectures highlighting the contributions of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in India's freedom struggle and screened a documentary on Netaji all across Mokokchung district to mark Parakram Diwas.
The aim of conducting such activities was to honour and remember Netaji's indomitable spirit and selfless service to the nation, to inspire people of region, especially the youth, to act with fortitude in the face of adversity as Netaji did, and to infuse in them a spirit of patriotic fervour, A press release from the HQ IGAR (N) stated.
A total of 58 youths attended the events, it added.
