DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 31 (MExN): The new building of Aoyimti Health & Wellness Center was inaugurated by Dr Temsula, Mission Director, National Health Mission Nagaland on October 30.

Speaking on the occasion as guest of honour, Dr Temsula stated that in order to bring medical facilities to the people, Sub Centers were upgraded to Health & Wellness Centers (HWC) and to provide quality services.

Staff Nurses who have undergone comprehensive six months training were posted as Community Health Officers (CHO). CHOs are trained not only to provide health services but also to provide wellness in the community such as yoga, elderly care etc.

She further stated that since most diseases are non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, cancer etc, the HWC also focuses on the prevention of such diseases. She appreciated the community leaders for the support and contribution to help complete the building and hoped that the community will continue to take ownership of the health centers. She urged the community leaders to continue encouraging the community to get themselves vaccinated against Covid-19 and to follow Covid appropriate behaviour even after vaccination.

Dr Moatemjen, Chief Medical Officer, Dimapur also reiterated that non-communicable diseases are mostly because of lifestyle and can be easily prevented. Anyone with hypertension or diabetes should regularly monitor themselves at the HWC which is easily accessible and free instead of going to private health facilities, he stated. He further stated that in centers where community participation is active, the center also performs well and the government too, provides more development.

The programme was chaired by Khrongopeu Ritse, CHO, Aoyimti HWC while the invocation and dedicatory prayer was said by Pastor Temsu. The welcome speech was delivered by Imnukloba, Chairma, AVC. The vote of thanks and benediction was delivered by Sosangmeren, Chairman, VHC and Tiala respectively.
