Wokha, November 20 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Orenthung Lotha flagged off the new NST bus service from Wokha to New Riphyim on November 20 at Nagaland State Transport office premise.
According to updates from the DIPR, the Deputy Commissioner said that the introduction of new bus service would reduce the transportation problem faced by the citizens of New Riphyim as well as the people of the entire range which consists of around six villages.
He also urged the area people to use the service with a sense of responsibility for long term benefit.
Lotha also thanked the initiative of Deputy Chief Minister, Minister for Home and R&B, Yanthungo Patton and other officials including the department of NST for providing the much needed service for the benefit of the people.
As per the DIPR, Divisional Manager NST, Kohima, Visio Yepthomi also spoke during the programme and urged the public to take proper care of the vehicle and use it judiciously. Appealing the public to look in to the welfare of the drivers and conductors manning the vehicle, he also sought their co-operation in helping the department provide the service required by the people.
The village authorities on behalf of the citizens of New Riphyim and Old Riphyim especially thanked Dy Chief Minister Y Patton, Transport Minister Paiwang Konyak and General Manager Nagaland State Transport for providing the 32-seater bus and fulfilling the much needed service to people.
The new NST route will cover a distance of 22 kms and operate with service No 519 Up from Wokha and service No 520 Down from New Riphyim, commencing from November 20, the DIPR informed.
Yepthomi informed that only 50% of the sitting capacity will be allotted/used keeping in view of the pandemic crisis and the fare rate is also at fixed @ Rs 60. However, the fare will be reduced to Rs 40 during normal times, he stated. The bus will ply on a daily basis with two trips per day.
Rev Abemo Jungio Pastor, Wokha Town Baptist Church, offered the dedicatory prayer for the new bus.
