New primary school in Ighavito village inaugurated

Honey festival underway

Zunheboto, February 26 (MExN): Government Primary School (GPS), Ighavito Village (Ighanu Ghaji) cum Honey Festival under Aghunato subdivision in Zunheboto district was inaugurated by Advisor for Sericulture, Excise and Minority Affairs, Nagaland, Zhaleo Rio on February 26.

Addressing the villagers, Rio thanked God for His sustenance and protection through the COVID-19 pandemic while requesting leaders to sensitize one another on following all necessary guidelines and SOPs. He lauded the village youths for all their efforts in successfully establishing the new GPS as well as the Honey festival and advised them to learn from elders. Rio stated that the day's programme is part of the PDA government’s commitment to bring positive changes in all under-developed areas of Nagaland.

On the education sector, Zhaleo queried as to why private schools always fared better than government schools when the latter have the most qualified, handsomely paid teachers. He further cautioned teachers of stern action against appointing proxy teachers.

Speaking on the honey festival, Zhaleo opined that the village’s honey “is perhaps one among the best in Zunheboto district,” and urged beekeepers to opt for pure, organic honey so that their product can be exported to any part of the world.

The function was chaired by Khumtsa Swu, VDB Secretary while Yeboto Chishi, Pastor, Ighavito Baptist Church, invoked God's blessing and Zhuwoto Kiba, Head GB Ighavito village, delivered the welcome address. Special numbers were presented by GPS Students and the village womenfolk while Sasuli Kiba, Pastor, Women Department Ighavito Baptist Church pronounced the benediction.
