Dimapur, March 10 (MExN): As a precursor to the forthcoming North East Spring Festival, the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) will be organizing “Outreach Cultural Exchange Programme” at New Town Hall, Mokokchung on March 12, 2011 at 3.00 p.m.
A press note issued by Som Kamei, IPS, director, NEZCC informed that the Outreach Programme is part of the effort of the NEZCC to bring national as well as international folk artistes troupes to all far flung areas of the North Eastern States to give a wide exposure in order to promote better cultural understanding. The programme at Mokokchung will be hosted by the Mokokchung District Art & Culture Council (MDACC) and supported by the Mokokchung District Administration.
The note also mentioned that special attraction of the event will be a variety of folk dance presentations by Myanmar’s cultural contingent. The Myanmar troupe is sponsored by the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR). The event will also witness presentations by the local artistes, viz., the Chancel Choir, Watemdang Cultural Club, Shilubenla & Sisters and Aosungkhem. The NEZCC will also mount similar Outreach Programmes at Medziphema and Jalukie on March 18, 2011.
