MALIGAON, AUGUST 27 (MExN): NF Railway is advancing its efforts to enhance the freight transportation system and improve customer interactions. Several new measures were implemented in July 2024 to streamline goods transportation and facilitate smoother operations.

As part of these initiatives, Panchgram station in Barak Valley, Assam, was opened for handling outward limestone traffic from July 2, 2024. Additionally, special provisions for bamboo transportation were introduced, with 20 freight wagons loaded with bamboo chips from Dhemaji station and 40 mini wagons carrying bamboo cuts from Vishwanath Chariali station, a press release issued by the CPRO informed.
The railway zone has also focused on improving its Bulk Distribution Unit (BDU) operations across various divisions. Full and mini rakes have been booked for transporting a range of commodities, including maize, rice, bamboo cuts, bamboo chips, stone chips, and potatoes.

These efforts generated additional revenue of Rs 2.31 crore in July. Notable stations such as Dhemaji, Vishwanath Chariali, Falakata, New Coochbehar, Binnaguri, and Alipurduar Jn. collectively loaded 175 freight wagons and 3 parcel vans during the month. Additionally, consignments of stone chips and potatoes were transported from Binnaguri to Bairabi and from Alipurduar to Silghat Town and Agartala.

These improvements in customer interface and freight services are aimed at revolutionizing interactions between business units and the railway network, offering enhanced convenience, efficiency, and transparency. By prioritizing digitalization and customer-centric policies, NF Railway is positioning itself as a leading choice for logistics services in the nation.
