Dimapur, March 31 (MExN): The Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) has announced that it will be conducting joint inspections of the ongoing Foothills Road construction along with the concerned government department and tribal hohos.
The inspections, to be conducted along with Department concerned and Tribal Hohos, are set to take place at “anytime from now,” the Committee stated in a press release.
In this regard, the NFHRCC has urged contractor firms involved in the project to ensure that their respective work sites are ready for inspection.
Asserting that the Foothills Road project is a people’s initiative, the committee maintained that the inspections will be conducted without bias or prejudice and in strict accordance with the Detailed Project Report (DPR) specifications.
The NFHRCC further expressed concern over reports of certain firms allegedly using substandard materials and, in some instances, materials that do not conform to the approved DPR specifications.
Accordingly, the committee urged all stakeholders, including tribal hohos and local civil society organisations (CSOs), to extend their cooperation during the inspection process to ensure transparency and accountability in the project.
