NFHRCC presses for fair selection in proposed 2-lanning of Foothills Road

Dimapur, May 8 (MExN): The Nagaland Foothills Road Co-ordination Committee (NFHRCC) has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Engineer of PWD (R&B) Nagaland, outlining recommendations for ensuring fair contractor selection and high-quality workmanship in the ongoing construction of the 2-lane Foothills Road."

In a memorandum, the NFHRCC emphasised the need for adopting “extraordinary precaution” on the criteria of selection of qualified registered contractors.

It further advocated for accommodating, promoting and giving leverage to the credentials of the young upcoming local Naga contractors by distributing work lengths between 10 to 15 kilometres to each qualified contractor.

No qualified contractors should be allotted works in more than one site, it added.

The NFHRCC also proposed restricting work allocation to contractors who bid below the Schedule of Rates (SOR), or at most, up to 5% below.

In addition, the Committee recommended a tripartite agreement involving the Department (PWD), contractors, and the NFHRCC to facilitate the smooth and timely execution of allocated work.

A tripartite agreement must be signed consisting of the Department (PWD), the Contractors and the NFHRCC to facilitate smooth and timely execution of the allocated works, recommended.

Moreover, it demanded strict adherence to approved CE Testing Co Ltd alignments in all divisions as well as equal and fair distribution of funds based on actual technical Detailed Project Reports (DPR) in each division.
