The Nagaland Forest Management Project held its Annual Review Meeting for 2024–2025 on August 12 at the Divisional Forest Office in Mon.

MON, AUGUST 14 (MExN): The Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP), funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), held its Annual Review Meeting for 2024–2025 on August 12 at the Divisional Forest Office in Mon.
The meeting, chaired by ADMU Head NFMP Kikavi Chophi, brought together DMU staff, FMU staff, FNGOs, representatives of the district administration, and JFMC and SHG members from 20 villages across Batches I to IV under the DMU Mon.
Addressing the gathering, DMU Head-cum-Divisional Forest Officer Mon, H. Tokugha Chophy, SFS, highlighted NFMP activities, outcomes, and challenges at the divisional level. DMU, FMU and FNGO representatives made presentations on annual activities, project outcomes, insights gained, and difficulties faced.
A feedback and interaction session was held with JFMC chairpersons from Batches I to III and SHG representatives from each village, who shared success stories, challenges, and grievances, while expressing gratitude to the NFMP for improving rural livelihoods and conserving biodiversity.
Representing the district administration, EAC Omajen Ozukum commended the Forest Department’s efforts and the active participation of communities in conservation. He praised the Prior Informed Consent (PIC) activities for strengthening relationships and raising awareness at the village level, and urged women’s SHGs to foster healthy competition for long-term gains.
EAC Neisiezo Theunuo lauded the positive impacts of the project and encouraged communities to document traditional knowledge and agricultural practices for future generations.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by FMU Head M. Nahwang Konyak. A total of 75 participants attended the event.
