Maligaon, September 30 (MExN): Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava inspected Sairang Railway Station on September 28 as part of a review of railway infrastructure and passenger facilities in Mizoram.
During the inspection, the GM reviewed passenger amenities, operational arrangements, safety measures and ongoing development works at the station. Railway officials briefed him on existing facilities and proposed works.
Shrivastava directed officials to maintain cleanliness and passenger facilities and ensure proper upkeep of railway assets. He also reviewed the operational preparedness of the station and stressed reliability and service quality.
He subsequently conducted a window-trailing inspection of the Sairang-Bairabi section, reviewing track and railway infrastructure, progress of electrification works, newly commissioned facilities and other ongoing development works.
The inspection comes as Sairang assumes greater importance as a railway station serving Mizoram following the extension of railway connectivity to the State capital, the NFR said in a press release.
The GM also reviewed the scope for further improvement of passenger amenities and station infrastructure.
He also directed officials to focus on safety, efficient operations and passenger convenience while ensuring effective utilisation and maintenance of railway assets, the release added.
The GM was accompanied by senior officials from NFR headquarters and Lumding Division.
