‘NHHDC Ltd has tremendous potential for Nagaland’

Dimapur, June 26 (MExN): Advisor to Chief Minister Abu Metha & Chairman IDAN and Advisor Industries & Commerce, Hekani Jhakhalu had an interactive meeting with Nagaland Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corporation (NHHDC) Ltd officers at NHHDC Office, Nagarjan Dimapur on June 26.

According to a DIPR report, Abu Mehta said that the main reason of the interactive meeting was to look into the functioning of all the corporations and State missions to see the performance, challenges they are facing and to work out roadmaps and visions for the future. 

“Corporation and missions are supposed to be revenue and employment generating institutions and their output should contribute in the allegations of State's economy,” Abu remarked. 

He pointed that the present government is serious to take a look at each of this missions on how it is functioning, how much they can contribute and the problem areas. He added that economy study will be conducted on how much the State is spending on each of this corporation and missions and how much revenue they are generating for the State.

He mentioned that NHHDC Ltd is an oldest corporation and has tremendous potential for Nagaland to do well. They had to do some introspection, reassessment and see how it can be improve, to be able to promote sell, propagate and reflect the identity of the Naga people, he added. Today, NHHDC had to change the narrative, products, and outlet and be an ambassador of Naga people because in today’s world it's all about performance and it's about every institutions be able to independently stand on its own feet.

He further expressed, “when we talk about indigenous product or buying, there should be a story telling, literature or conversation piece as this product reflects our culture and people.” In today's world, professionalism and specialization are vital and “we have to adjust with the markets and have to know what target we are marketing.” Hence, urged the officers to be an agency in contributing to the State exchequer.

Advisor, Industries & Commerce, Hekani Jhakhalu in her short speech stated the meeting with the officers is to understand the corporation  not only from outside where files reaches them or not just to talk about the issues that's in the pipeline but to  openly listen to the other issues they are facing.

She assured the officers to look into the matters whatever problems they are facing and look forward to successfully working together for the betterment of our people.

During the short programme, welcome address was delivered by Chairman, NHHDC Ltd, Prasielie Pienyu; presentation on activities and road map of NHHDC Ltd was presented by Managing Director, NHHDC Ltd, Vitsuzho Nyuthe, followed by interaction and discussion with the officers.
