Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) today deferred the proposed business pertaining to the ‘Prohibition of Satanic Worship in Nagaland,’ listed for discussion on the first day of the 7th session of the 14th NLA.
Naga Peoples’ Front (NPF) Legislature Party leader Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu had proposed to seek the attention of the House on this matter under- Rule 54 as matters of urgent public importance.
However, before the matter being taken up, NLA Speaker Sharingain Longkumer told the House that related business has been deferred till further notice.
Meanwhile, talking to media persons, Azo said that as requested by Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio and NLA Speaker Sharingain Longkumer “We need to do a little bit more study on this matter and act at the right time and bring out for discussion.”
Azo said that the matter (Satanic Worship) is serious and needs to be discussed in the State Assembly so that proper law can be brought about banning such cult.
Asked if he had come across any such practices in the state, the MLA Azo said, there are evidences existing in the state.
He claimed that “Satanic worship” has begun to take root in parts of the state, which he described as “totally unbecoming of us as a Christian society.”
Stating that at least eight Hindu states have passed their own ordinance as state level legislation, Azo said, “when Hindu states can take this issue and pass ordinance why not a Christian state like us?”
He said that the need of the hour is to enact Special Law that prohibits Devil/Satanic worship in the state.
